Overview
The Regional Special Education Network (RSN) works directly with district special education leaders to select and use educational practices designed to achieve equitable educational outcomes and close opportunity gaps for students with disabilities. This ensures that all Wisconsin students graduate ready to gain more education or become employed, something every student deserves. RSN supports the advancement of academic achievement and social and emotional competencies of students with disabilities by:
- serving as a liaison to provide linked communication between the Department of Public Instruction and local education agencies (LEAs);
- providing coordinated technical assistance that promotes continuous systems improvement;
- supporting development of districts' capacity to use data for analysis and action planning;
- fostering collaboration; and
- developing educational leadership capacity.
The RSN also supports local special education leadership personnel through RSN meetings, phone calls/emails, information dissemination, and mentoring of new special education directors. (Indicators 1-20)
