Literacy Hub
The Literacy Hub provides research-based literacy services to students, teachers, and administrators in the region. Services may include school/district literacy analysis, professional development, on-site and virtual literacy consultation and coaching, and literacy leadership communities. Our approach encompasses a comprehensive and innovative approach to literacy leadership and development that is grounded in evidence aligned research to strengthen content knowledge, instruction, and assessment. We strive to promote professional growth through innovative and engaging learning opportunities.
The CESA #1 Literacy Team supports comprehensive literacy instruction including reading, writing, speaking and listening. We believe that meaningful literacy practices support students in becoming proficient - comprehend, critique, build strong content knowledge, value evidence; persistent - develop independence, respond to various tasks and audiences; passionate - understand other perspectives and cultures, use technology to enhance learning; and prepared to meet literacy challenges.
Customized workshops and specific training are available upon request to include Units of Study: Reading and Writing Workshop and Phonics, Disciplinary Literacy, LLI, and FUNdations, among others.
Literacy Network
Literacy Specialists are essential instructional leaders in all learning. The CESA #1 Literacy Network is a professional learning opportunity with a mission to discuss, collaborate, and support one another, deepen understanding of high-impact instructional practices, and deliver relevant staff development for teachers. The goal of this group is to reflect, stretch and respond to the reading, writing, speaking and viewing needs of our region’s teachers through staff and collaborative coaching. In addition, the network will provide:
- Exploration and reflection on current high-impact literacy instruction
- Collegial conversation that will foster a synthesis of new understanding
- Personalize a CESA #1 professional development template
- Personalized coaching for Literacy Specialists
The Literacy Network meets for a half day, six times per year and the audience is Reading Specialists, Coaches, Interventionists, and Literacy Leaders.
